Darley Arabian. First called Whitefoot, he was bred by the Earl of Essex, and
owned successively by Sir Edmund Bacon for whom he ran in 1737
and 1738, Mr. Grisewood and
Viscount Weymouth. His dam, Lord Byron's Sparkler
[ex-Maidenhead] also produced Mr. Greville's Grantham (b
c 1741 Hip). He had a satisfactory turf career, defeating,
among others, Cupid (b c 1736 Somerset Arabian), a son of the illustrious mare,
Bald Charlotte (ch f 1721 Old Royal). He died in 1741 after running a trial.
His death was recorded at the bottom of an engraving.
