Welbeck Abbey, Nottingham, home to the Dukes of Newcastle and early progenitors of the thoroughbred, the Oxford Dun Arabian and the Newcastle Barb and Turk; later to the Cavendish-Bentincks (Dukes of Portland) and such legendary thoroughbreds as St. Simon, the New Zealand-bred Carbine, and Aryshire.
