| Sulby Hall |
|
Sulby Hall, home of George Payne, was located southwest of Market Harborough in Northamptonshire. The hall was constructed in 1792 for Rene Payne, a London banker, from a design by the noted John Sloane. George Payne sold it to the Hon. Frederick William Child Villiers in 1847. The hall was demolished in 1949. George Payne was the breeder of Pauline (b f 1826 Moses), the dam of the worthy stallion Gladiator (ch c 1833 Partisan), the Derby winner Sefton (b c 1875 Speculum) and an owner of the great Musket (b c 1867 Toxophilite).
