Raby Castle (in February of 2007), County Durham, is situated one mile north of Staindrop and eight miles north east of Barnard Castle. Originally built by the Nevills, it was acquired by the Vanes in 1569. Home of the Vane family, Earls of Darlington and Dukes of Cleveland, Whisker and other notable runners, it is now owned by Harry John Neville Vane, 11th Baron Barnard.
